Welcome to your life

Posted 2. May, 2011 04:05 | by Daedalus

Nine years.

For nine years The Postmortem has stood as a testament to Blood's magnificence. For nine years has the site served as a banner for Blood's cause, its promotion and proliferation.

Allow me, in honour of this monolithic occasion, to bid a warm-blooded welcome to the familiar faithful - the esteemed number who have stood by the site through thick and thin, as well as any newcomers who may be looking to join the order of Bloodites. Before you is none other than The Postmortem's fourth incarnation, and it is my privilege to introduce it to you.

While our objective has always been one of preserving Blood's artistic integrity in all matters, we at The Postmortem understand that innovation is required when promoting Blood through various forms of media, and The Postmortem sometimes requires refinement and reinvention to keep up with the times. The period of transition is over and here is the result - The Postmortem Version 4 in all its glory.

To mention only a few of the new features present here; the site now includes a more modern news system, a comment system for news and articles and a database containing all Blood information and beyond. The main site is now fully integrated with the forum, allowing registered users access to downloads and additional site features.

However, this is only the beginning as we have in mind something a little more radical. We've a series of exciting new features under construction (some of which we'll retain in secret areas for now). Our downloads section will be restored, additional site themes will be available, including a modern look, a classy darker theme, and the retro Posty forum appearance, and there'll be many more features to come. Keep that Beast Vision activated - we'll be providing site updates here as the various features are complete.

Stay tuned and be involved. Blood lives on only through its userbase. Here we intend to present the most complete, undying collection of Blood material ever gathered, to continue our legacy as the definitive Blood site and to carry Blood to a prosperous and gory future. With The Postmortem that Blood future is now.

Site updates : Problem with pictures

Posted 27. July, 2011 16:44 | by Daedolon

There seems to have been a mishap with the site and as a result most of the pictures uploaded on the sites have temporarily disappeared.

I'm working on this problem as we speak, expect it to be fixed within 24 hours. Thanks for understanding.

Trailer goodness

Posted 9. July, 2011 23:23 | by Daedolon

I uploaded several official trailers for Blood on YouTube. Here's the one most of you are probably very familiar with, the original trailer from 1997:

But in addition to that, I also uploaded these short beta trailers from 1996 as a bonus treat. Sadly these have no sound in them.

You can also find the original credits video (unused in the game itself) that features a very atmospheric re-arrangement of Unholy Voices:

Hope you enjoyed them. Stay tuned for more Blood.

Blood CD audio looping fixed in DOSBox!

Posted 29. June, 2011 01:03 | by Daedolon

Image
As some of you may know, the CD audio music in Blood has not exactly worked too well in the past, resulting in music just playing once and not looping or restarting until you change the level. The CD audio volume control should also work in the game now as well.

Qbix, the developer of DOSBox has surmounted this issue and presented us a version of DOSBox that loops music in Blood and other BUILD games (Shadow Warrior and Redneck Rampage).

You can download the updated version of DOSBox from DropBox or straight from our site.

Note that this does not fix this problem in Blood 1.0.

Site updates : Just a heads up

Posted 2. May, 2011 03:05 | by Daedolon

While the site you're now looking at is getting closer to finalization, there is still room for expansion and enhancement. I will be updating and upgrading things as we go. Be not surprised if you see something change or spot something completely new, as I will not write news posts on and about every little thing I change or add. I will write a summary of things changed and added every now and then to keep you updated, instead.

Just to clarify once more, all of our data and information is safe and sound and will eventually be added to the site as I get done with the more mandatory upgrades.

We would be very grateful if you told us if you happen to encounter any kind of problem with either the usability of the site, or errors in the content itself. You can report such things in the intended forum thread here.

Blood II now available on GOG!

Posted 29. April, 2010 16:46 | by Daedolon

Blood II: The Chosen is now available on GOG.com as well. While it did not fare as well as the first game did, I think it's obvious we need to support the series as much as we can. Grab your legal copy now!
