Tools needed:
Imagine Image Viewer http://nyam.pe.kr/dev/imagine/download/ ... _1.0.7.exe
DukeRes Resource Editor http://wg.duke4.net/files/dukeres.zip
Blood Pallete http://www.mediafire.com/?bq3a0d5hgblc2ik
Imagine Image Viewer is a freeware tool which reads and writes a lot of picture formats and got good color pallete conversion where it even reads the original blood.pal file without any conversion to modern formats
DukeRes is a menu driven resource editor for duke nukem 3d but it will come in handy creating new blood .art files
Ok Lets start:
1. Open the texture/image you want to add to blood with Imagine
Choose Image->Pallete->Import Pallete and select Blood.pal
This converts your images colors to those useable within blood (keep in mind that not all colors are
available for use so choose something within bloods general color style for best conversion)
save the image as .png but keep it opened in imagine
2. Copy image within Imagine into the clipboard
3. Start DukeRes and select to create a new .Art file
Choose a free slot and paste the image from clipboard into it
ATTENTION THIS IS CRUCIAL: DukeRes asks now if you want to convert the image to duke nukems pallete
choose "DOESNT MATTER" (No Conversion)
Now your image is added and you will see it displayed with wrong colors in DukeRes but only in DukeRes
in Blood its going to be fine so dont worry!
4. Save your new .art file with the name TILES018.ART or up
(TILES017 and lower are Bloods original .arts dont overwrite them)
5. Open up Mapedit and you will now be able to choose your custom image/texture from the tile selection
(no searching for free slots in between original ones anymore)
Gif animation showing the process : http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=15599
You can fill an .art file with up to 256 textures/tiles then your need to create the next one with a new number
These steps can be done in a few seconds so even adding a lot of textures is not much of a deal anymore
