Friendly reminder: This thread is for the discussion of failing at games, not succeeding at them.

i dunno why this "friendly reminder" sounded grimly, very grimly
signatures are irrelevant. they are for those naive simpletons, who think that they can sum their whole life philosophy in several worlds.
idiots.

For the record: I've finished Half-Life, so yeah, I already know all about how you need to perform magical tricks to kill the bosses.

Yeah but if you think about it, it's not like it hasn't been done before. Think of Quake's lava Boss in 'House Of Cython', you had to activate some machinery to electrocute him because normal projectiles wouldn't do any damage. There are other examples (Resident Evil is one I can think of at the moment) sure it's not a FPS but it's proof that not all bosses can be defeated with mere weapons.

Not literally!! I just forgot about the battle with Cthon! It's been what... 6 months since I finally finished it level for level?

I'd done the battle several times over mind you. I guess he just wasn't that bad compared to the extent you have to go to to beat Half-Life's bosses, and thus, didn't stick out in my mind compared to them.

Go figure.

wow this brings back memories,
Super Mario 64 is my pick when i first got it when it came out i was surprised how hard it was for me, i mean its not that its hard, its just frusterating, to this day i still havent beaten it to 100% i only need 2 more stars to get on the roof to see yoshi, but ill never get them there both in the clock level and i dont even bother with that level its just too frusterating! dont bother helping me either ive given up on that game. now i just need to beat quake 64, not that hard but im nearing the last few levels and there getting harder.

Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts on the SNES.
Start with three lives. Get hit twice and lose one.
Run through a dozen levels chock-full of enemies, pitfalls and traps.
Arrive at the endboss - the insanely huge Demon Emperor, Sardius.
Kill him after a massive effort and rescue the princess... the end?

No.

Now, this is where that snotty bitch tells you: "Whoops - you've forgotten my super-special magical amulet of so-and-so BACK AT LEVEL 1 and you need to get it to defeat Sardius for good."

What?

Warp back to level 1
Start with three lives. Get hit twice and lose one.
Run through a dozen levels chock-full of enemies, pitfalls an.........
You get the idea.

Oh yeah, no saves, no passwords.

Sounds like a generic crappy snes game :)

My choise for the game what I have not beaten is Empire Earth II, it is just so frigging annoying because combat really is just amassing a gargantuan army and destroy your opponent, yuck..

It's really hard to have the whole history of mankind in real-time strategy game..

Agreed. I don't think the developers could beat the title. As mentioned, I got to the second last level with the Freedom Guard (who I consider the more difficult team to play) and they corrupted my save. Such is this game's power.
