Just picked up 'Splatterhouse'...
I think I was the first person in town to buy it, since they hadn't even shelved it yet. My geek-fu is strong!
Love the blood and gore effects, the irreverence and the nods to horror icons and tropes. I love how adult this game is, even if it's not scary. (It's much more "Evil Dead 2" than it is "Evil Dead 1", if that helps.) HATE the save/checkpoint system and the (sometimes) hard-to-make-out on-screen instructions. That's a problem I run into a lot though, since I have the nerve to play games on my 27-inch flat CRT and apparently, every game developer designs interfaces for 50-inch HDTVs.
The metal soundtrack is used where appropriate, with a more traditional "action-horror" score to fill out the rest.
Overall, I'm glad I bought it, if only because I'm a huge fan of the original series, which can be unlocked and played -- seriously, that was super cool of Namco-Bandai to do for us fans. This was a good fix for my lust for pixel blood.

Wait, how does it play? If it's played on a 2D plane while progressing through rooms like in the originals, I'd love to try it.

You mean brand new Splatterhouse ?
Snake Plissken would love this thread.

I def. will check the new Splatterhouse out.
The first sneek peek of the game seemed pretty disappointing.
Miss the old classics.

Yes, LeBabe is right. I'm loving this thread
I'm a big fan of the old splatterhouse games (part 3 in particular), and i've been following the news regarding a new game in the serie since the PS2 was announced and later deleted.
I've heard very different opinions about this game. Some people say that it's very good, some says that it sucks altogether. Sadly i haven't got neither a PS3 or a Xbox 360 so i can't play it directly, for now

I miss that spanish fellow whom was once known as 'EPN'. From recollection he had an enthusiastic and cheerful disposition, and the one picture he shared beared an intriguing resemblance to that of the frank Mouth.
Re: Just picked up 'Splatterhouse'...
He renamed himself to Sir Seizhak, I presume.
Re: Just picked up 'Splatterhouse'...
Yep Sir Seizak is EPN.

Splatterhouse 2 for Sega was so fun. When I punched the monsters in half I actually had to pause the game and laugh. One of my favorite Sega games of all times.

And the music of Splat' is ace ! The music of the first level and the first boss...damn, so awesome. The first one is creppy as hell and then you get to the boss and a heroic Street Fighter like theme rings.
