Re: Build engine games - Top 4
My favs are these.
1. Blood
2. Duke Nukem
3. WW2 GI <- Only on the list because it was the first Build game I ever played. (and because it's kinda cool.)

Re: Build engine games - Top 4
Boy... Top Two are pretty easy.
1: Blood. What more could be said?
2: Duke 3D. Again, what more can you say? Both games amazing, great voice work, humor, weapons, level design, bosses, etc. Duke has the advantage for now because of it's open source but that will change soon. As to which is better it's like apples and oranges, it's all down to specific tastes.
3: Redneck Rampage. From what I've played I kinda' dig it, the levels are too large and a little too confusing though. Not to the extent of something like Hexen but close enough. The voice work and humor are a nice touch. I like the pushback of the weapons and the use of liquor and food. Alt-Fire and more stream-lined levels would've made it better.
4: I'm tempted to say Powerslave but I didn't really get a good chance to play it. Shadow Warrior has a lot of good things going for it but it just never quite comes together. What is the consensus among the diehards on Shadow Warrior?

Correction: Shadow Warrior is totally deserving of 3rd. Re-playing it again, very fun, I like how it encourages you to go crazy with every weapon. Not a lot of FPS do that.
