For anyone who has some old love for Quake II, get this Super Single Player Pack consisting of 109 mission packs and 243 single levels!

I'm re-playing OUWB, this time on a 21 inch, interlaced, aperture grill CRT monitor with a vga-rgb scan converter locked at 640x400@60hz (perfectly synced to Blood's internal fps with perfectly upscaled menu and hud)

It literally doesn't get any better than this as far as picture quality is concerned. Feels like a new game altogether, I kid you not 8)

Ooh, that sounds awesome. Do you have a camera on hand?

@Daedalus: I tried taking pictures, but the quality just doesn't do it justice, in fact, I wasn't even lucky enough to get one without the scan bar. Guess it's something you've got to see for yourself, but I suspect it's similar to what Quake Arcade Tournament Edition may have looked like back in the day.

Now I'm thinking I could turn this into a Blood arcade cabinet, hmmm...

@Krypto: kind of cliche, but welcome to 30-something years ago

Now I'm playing Doom 64 and Sacred 2. Very funny and enjoyable games.

I nearly finished Doom 64, but got scared and quit because it was disturbing my mind :'( It's genuinely the darkest game I've seen at least for that decade.

Sometimes I felt that Doom 64 was like another Quake 1: weapons design, textures, and the dark ambient. It seems developers was very influenced by Quake. I mean, I'm not disappointed with that but I was expecting something different. In addition the OST is excellent and creates the perfect atmosphere.

For me Doom 64 is one of the best games from the 90's.

I owe myself that play, but try as I might to find my way into new games, I always feel like they all fall short of grace as nothing was, is or will ever be, better than Blood.

A wise stance.

On an unrelated note the Alpha/Beta music is pretty damn haunting and creepy, surprised they left some of it out, what was going to be Crystal Lake would have been more despairing, but ultimately I think it'd detract from the gameplay as the quality in contrast to the final selection seems out of place.

I stopped caring about anything modern since 2003 when I played Painkiller, the only redeeming value was the fact you couldn't unlock every level and tarot card unless you played on the highest difficulty which required 2/3 playthroughs. Also the Tower of Babel level made me shed tears from the starlight sky and the music.

It was far more enjoyable then the overrated fuck fest of Serious Sam, I only played the sequel once, just once and try as I might I couldn't pick it back up at all, it's so mind numbingly tedious and redundant with the over scaled environments and wave of monsters.

Painkiller had the right idea with regards to keeping the level size mid range, and you can actually discover a huge amount just from being crafty and searching all over the place. Serious Sam was a placid box by contrast.

I recorded myself beating all of Super Castlevania IV on Hard-Mode without using Sub-Weapons on the actual console!
