Max Payne the movie
Re: Max Payne the movie
I guess I just wanted to throw my opinion of the actual movie since no one else had. Sorry, I'll stop.

Re: Max Payne the movie
They should have stuck with the original games story damn it.
They always try to funk up the story when they make a Game/Film and always fail, but i cansay one good thing about the film....it's not as bad as Farcry's movie......but then head butting a concrete wall wouldn't be as bad as that film

It's Uwe Boll, what would you expect? It's one thing that fucker would make bad movies to benefit from some sort of strange profit (a tax of some sort I think, but right now that's off the cuff), but to do it to video games?! Man I'd love to learn how to box just so I can punch that beep into a corner and wail him shitless.

Games and movies appear to be the arch nemesis of one another. Games based on movies are invariably shit, being poorly executed and devoid of any creativity or care, potentially due to the developer's adhering to the greedy profit incentive. Bastards.
Movies based on games are commonly an embarassment, or so it would appear in the viewer's eye that is.
Re: Max Payne the movie
Doesn't help when one's a video game buff. I can imagine what an uproar would take place if Uwe Boll dared to touch Half-Life or Halo. Oh, that would be hysterical.
There are exceptions in the business of movies made into game though. Examples:
The Warriors for the PS2. It's based off of the movie and then some. Throw in a shitload of new storylining involving just about anything; a backstory leading to the night of that fatal meeting, character's backstories of how they joined into The Warriors, new gangs made JUST for the game. Couple that with a wonderful fighting system, two player co-op, and team AI that actually knows how to play like a frigging human just about! Oh, did I mention the soundtrack is blazingly good? And how accurate the storyline is regarding the movie's actual plot? It's a fucking classic and I'm glad it went platinum. Oh, it's Rockstar by the way, if I'm correct.
Also, most Terminator games on the Sega consoles are quite good. Not perfect, but far better than what ANY Nintendo system offered.
The Godfather was decent too, especially on the wii when you can use motion control to throw people over the side of a long drop.
Well, that's it for my end. It's rare, but there are exceptional movie to game transitions.

The Thing was decent, and even better when you haxor the registry code to save anywhere you want.
It was quite sadistically hard game though, but the free saving made it more humaine.

Goldeneye007 on the N64 was an example of this happening in reverse. A movie has a good game made out of it.
Although it's not clear how well the upcoming Wii remake of Goldeneye will be.

Oh hey i just thought of a good Video game inspiered film!
Well TBH i never played the games and they are console games but i really quite enjoyed 'Final Fantasy Spirits within'
and although it makes no sense what so ever i like Advent children too.
Also i reaLLLLLLy wish they'd make a modern graphics Mortal Kombat film, of course it would be super strength drek but it would look coool

Re: Max Payne the movie
I think Mortal Kombat was fine the way it was. They just need to "edit"* that fight between Sonya and Kano. Now Mortal Kombat Annihilation, on the other hand, managed to be even more boring than an MK TV series. That's an accomplishment right there.
*By which I mean, replace the actors with better choreography as well. That fight was lolzy.
