What do you think of Blood II? And why so?

Post by NAto » Feb 12th, 2008, 11:07

So there are two questions I'm asking here; firstly and obviously, what is your general opinion of Blood II? Secondly, why do you have this view?

Inadvertently I'm basically asking: Why didn't Blood II live up to Blood?

Feel free to be the devil's advocate and defend Blood II if you want to. I'd like some in depth answers here. Also please write what you voted in the poll at the top of your post.

Edit: Please excuse the "prett y good" :D

I voted average (althought I might have voted one step higher).

I think Blood2 is a bit overhated game here... Sure, it has suffered the time more than it's grandfather but it still has it's good sides. I really liked the atmosphere in the game..

Why did it not live up to blood then? Difficult to say, since blood is so damn good game in all aspects. :D I guess the biggest setback in b2 was propably the playability..

God damn, hard to explain.

I haven't played blood2 in ages, so maybe I should.

I never experienced any bugs in B2. And I think it's better than Half-Life. *hides behind umnir*

Three things quickly...
  • 1. Don't let peer pressure affect what you say
    2. Remember the question when you post: Why didn't Blood II live up to Blood?
    3. Remember to put your poll choice at the top of your post to put your opinion into context.
Thanks for the replies so far though :D

Average.

And it's really not much better than Half-Baked either. Anyway.

Overall, it's everything. I'll just lay out examples.

The weapons feel weak and boring in Blood 2.

The story could have been good, but it was rushed *scratches that out* no... more like ignored. It was just about Caleb chasing after Gideon (fucking lame name, BTW). All those side plots just went to waste.

The city streets felt devoid of life, boring, and at times had VERY odd architecture. Also, sewer levels more often than not never work.

The music is not worth the hassle it must take to get it to work.

Bought it a long time ago.
Installed it.
Intro... so, so.
After I saw the graphics... slowly anger creeped up inside of me.
The gay enemies, world looks totally nonsolid, childish smoke and explosion-effects, the way the weapons look, feel, silly storyline, fucked up dimensions, etc.
Gave the game to a friend and buried it mentally.
If the people that made it would have been in the same room as me while I first checked it out - they would have ended up in hospital... no joke. :D

I lol'd.

I'll contribute, but my tongue will turn black and every third word will be a curse.

Voted for "Pretty good" since I think it's way more enjoyable than most of the average shooters.

It's by no means great, but saying it sucks just because it didn't fulfil our expectations set by Blood is bullshit.

Yep, seconded. I still think it's better than Half Life. And Half Life 2. And whatever.

Anything's better than HL2.. most overrated game ever. HL1 on the otherhand.. nah ;)

Blood 2.. it's just rather random.. a lot of the dialogue is all over the place, the way the levels are slotted together often feels very out of place.. animations are often quite impressive and then sometimes just rather odd... it's very much an unfinished game, which Monolith themselves have admitted to. That said, I still enjoyed it a lot :)

It was all a very bad dream that hopefully we may all someday wake up from...
