Public's reaction to Jace's thread

Post by Daedolon » Aug 5th, 2012, 21:09

I didn't expect to see this much of shown interest in the idea of re-releasing Blood, but here it is, straight from the public's mouth. I have gathered links here that write about this event.

Now, I'm advising against this kind of behaviour since it seems most of these news posts have misinterpreted Jace's original post and it might backlash against the community.

Still as this is completely out of our control and there's a lot of comments on this subject to be found within these sites so it's a good way to see what the general consensus outside The Postmortem is.

This might be a dupe though since vg247 was a contributor to the article.

Yeah it's just shared through VG24/7.

EDIT: Added Joystiq. A lot of sites are crawling the Joystiq article to themselves, a lot of visibility. Not sure if that's good or what.

Is Blood coming back?

Spotted this today on LazyGamer, a lousy South African video game site. You can bet that if the news is down here, it's spread to just about everywhere. It's such a surreal experience to have Blood getting all this recognition.

I got to be honest here, I'm scared to death right now. I don't even want to imagine Mr.Hall coming back to this forum and getting the wrong impression that people may not want the offered source port but a remake instead, then any possibility of classic Blood ever being 2k-compatible disappearing into thin air.

Yes that's what I'm saying, all these newsposts promising things that were never even talked about in the first place. Jace wanted input on his suggestion and people are jumping the gun and saying silly things like "Blood remake confirmed with enhanced graphics" and whatnot.

Seems like this all originated from Evil Avatar, I'm not familiar with the site but it seems like it has long reach. Sadly these things are outside the Blood community's control.

Now I just wish Jace would hop on back and give us his impressions on this and tell how he wants to proceed. He should especially address these news posts in his original thread so we can kill these false rumours before they get out of hand.

I pointed out in a comment that they misunderstood the whole thing.

I registered at Evil Avatar forum to reply to some jerk, then i realized i can just report him to the admins there, for being a non constructive jerk that at the end of his argument says that he does not like Jace anyway... Go figure... And what do the admin do? They delete my account i just made. Got dissaproved. Way to go Evil Avatar... At least i know where NOT to get my gaming information... :bastard:
That post is bullshit. It's like saying going to the Great White Shark tank and saying to captured from the wild sharks "Hey guys, you haven't had a full seal to eat for a long time, I've been THINKING about bringing in some live seals for you to chase and eat but I'm not sure. What do you think?"

WTF do you think they are going to say? It comes off as disengeneous, self-aggrandizing, and plain manipulative (this is the best case!). Not even that subtle manipulation.

Plus, I've never liked him much and this type of bullshit doesn't make it any better.

First it was "Blood remake confirmed", now it's "Blood remake through crowd-funding"?

EDIT: Finally a decent news post, this time by Horrible Night.

EDIT2: Now Monolith themselves posted about it on fb?
https://www.facebook.com/MonolithProduc ... 8754437795

Their post links to a news post by Tom's Hardware.

Well, seems like Blood still holds some relevance to them. I wonder if that's a good thing considering all the legal crap revolving around Blood's IP.

And kudos to tomshardware for the short, well-grounded article 8)

My intent as this point is to discuss the matter with Atari after Gamescon 2012 when they get some time to sit down with me.

I'll keep you posted as the situation evolves. I have not made a final decision about this, but I am leaning towards it. I'll see how my conversation goes and evaluate based on the outcome.
