Greetings to the Blood Community
The only core gameplay elements I'd change...
Just my humble opinion:
1) Crouching shouldn't make you untouchable to the grey boss gargoyle or to the fat guy that spits. Make it so the boss gargoyle can still hurt you while you're crouched via slashing or his energy bolt. The fat guy's projectile should be able to move towards your direction while you're crouching. It takes a lot away from the game when these two enemies become almost pointless for the most part when all you have to do is crouch. Fat guys can still hurt you via melee attack but as long as you're away from them you're golden. They should fix this.
2) Closing doors, cabinets etc shouldn't kill you. Personally I don't really have a problem with this as it's a part of the Blood game. People like us who know the game will be smart to avoid closing doors but new players won't and it would probably turn a lot of them away from the game. Blood is already considered difficult and I don't want to change anything else about it (in fact my first point is to make the game harder). The thing is though that closing doors shouldn't be able to hurt you. It's kind of silly and shows laziness in the game's design. That factor might turn away quite a few new players from the game.

Both of those should be covered under "add options to fix original gameplay bugs" as part of the Master Dream List, but thanks for naming those two in particular.

Is it true that doors which insta-kill the player are actually assigned/tagged in the editor?

No.

Yes, except bugs.Krypto wrote:Is it true that doors which insta-kill the player are actually assigned/tagged in the editor?
In the dialog box there's an option called "crush".
Cabal's Return Add-On. Wait for it.

And all doors should be tagged with it by default.

Actually, it should be mentioned that it depends on what type of door you're referring to.
Anyway, this seems a bit off topic for this thread.

I also sent a tweet to @ForkParker trying to divulge any info as to what's the possibility of a Blood IP acquisition. No response.

The stand-out thing here is, that in other BUILD engine games you just simply get crushed by swinging doors if the engine can't find room to push the player in. Blood does it completely different, it literally has a flag for doors that allows the map makers to specify if a door kills a player or not. It's not a "bug" but rather a conscious choice by the developers.Tofu wrote:The thing is though that closing doors shouldn't be able to hurt you. Okay, but it's a strange choice to make any closing door kill a player imo.Daedolon wrote:The stand-out thing here is, that in other BUILD engine games you just simply get crushed by swinging doors if the engine can't find room to push the player in. Oh, and those ghosts can't hurt you when you're crouched either. That also needs to be sorted out. Their projectiles, like the fat man's, are also perfectly horizontal and don't slope towards your direction if you're prone. That should be fixed, and they should be able to melee you while you're crouched.

I wish Jace would release the code to a closed group of modders like what happened with the Pirates Ahoy community with the source code for Age of Pirates 2 unofficially by a developer of Akella or who ever else was responsible for developing that game.

Heard that Interceptor want's to get their hands on the Blood IP. Waiting to hear Jace's word on this.

To nuance that news, it seemed like Fresch was blowing smoke (what with the tweet with the Blood II artwork in the background), then Rock Paper Shotgun teased and hyped it further to gain publicity even though Mike Nielsen downplayed all their questions.

That guy is pretty much an arrogant d-bag. Based on their Facebook page, I'm pretty sure they blew most of the money they made on ROTT on making their office look cool, and horribly expensive collector's items.Hendricks266 wrote:To nuance that news, it seemed like Fresch was blowing smoke (what with the tweet with the Blood II artwork in the background), then Rock Paper Shotgun teased and hyped it further to gain publicity even though Mike Nielsen downplayed all their questions.

I've just registered to this forum to tell you what happened. I sent a tweet to ForkParker to ask about the Blood IP and he answered that it's not happening. https://twitter.com/ForkParker/status/4 ... 3188416512
