How are sales of One Unit Whole Blood doing on GOG.com?
You know, upon reading and realizing this, I have a bad gut feeling that it's very most likely that the entire talks are going to fail.

Hopefully I'm wrong though.

I don't see how it could go tits up. Unless the companies' involved hold the license ransom for something else (Exclusivity deals, rights to another IP, etc) because we're going on 15 years since Blood 2 came out. How much money could they expect to get for an IP dead this long and that was never a million seller?

Also this:

You know, if he's tweeting about it, this is probably a good sign. If the project is doomed I think he would just be silent about it.

This pisses me off to no end

They would rather see the Blood IP rot in hell unless they see big profits

I don't see id Software going down the toilet for releasing game code, what's the harm in giving people Blood?

So last night, I took it upon myself to email Jace Hall and ask him about Blood. I got a response from him today. For context, I will provide the email I wrote to him with some slight changes.

My email:
Dear Mr. Jace Hall,

My name is Tyler (Otherwise known as meleemario), anyway, we spoke in The Postmortem IRC channel (#thepostmortem on QuakeNet) in August of 2011, where you spoke with many of us in the channel regarding Blood. We talked about a native port, the source code, and ideas for multiplayer. You also posted on The Postmortem forums with your ideas at around the same time.

Anyway, in regards to that, I was wondering if you could offer me some updates on your Blood "revitalization", or whatever Blood's future holds. I just want to know how it is all coming along.

Thank you for taking time out to read this message!
-Tyler (meleemario)
Jace's reply:
Can't talk much about it right now. However, I am close to getting the legal stuff regarding Blood finished. Until that is complete, nothing else that is significant can happen. It's close though.
Jace
Anyway, this is definitely good news. Here's hoping all goes well!

Found this article recently about Atari's incoming bankruptcy:

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/01/t ... te-deaths/

What does this mean for Jace Hall's progress and also the fate of the Blood IP itself? Hopefully we could get good news from this.

Well in further news I sent a email to Jace Hall which this was my message:
Message:
>Hello Jace
>
>I heard that Atari is filing for bankruptcy (which you probably heard
>it which is there is no need for me posting a article on it) what does
>this mean for the Blood IP and also your progress with? Maybe it's
>possible that you could actually buy the Blood IP from them so you can
>finally release the source code and also making another installment or
>rather a reboot to Blood?
>
>Or just incase if you haven't heard (which I think is unlikely), just
>be safe than sorry I would might as well post a article:
>
>http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/01/t ... test-in-a-
>long-history-of-corporate-deaths/
And then I recently got from a response not from Jace Hall but from another person named Paul Nyhart:
Hi Blake,

Here was our take when we first head the news last week:

http://www.jacehallshow.com/news/gaming ... 121/atari/

No comment regarding the implications all this might have regarding any of
our future projects, but we'll keep you posted on any developments in the
future.

Thanks again for reaching out, Blake!

I guess it's possible that Jace Hall would probably post a follow up email but I don't know although I remember posting that same article that Paul linked to but I originally deleted it thinking it had nothing to do with Blood but maybe until recently, maybe it does, slightly somewhat.

Atari is filing bankruptcy but it's the Euro arm that's losing money not the American arm. They're filing for bankruptcy so they can separate. I doubt it would have much effect on Blood re-release.

What this mean? No source or ports? Just re-release or reboot like Duke? Or what? :?

I'd venture to guess that it will have little to no effect on the task at hand.

Dear Blood Community:

I just got an unusually short, one sentence e-mail from Atari, letting me know that given the current set of circumstances, they are choosing to decline to proceed.

Obviously, I am disappointed. Particularly given Atari's continued encouragement along with the amount of time, effort and correspondence that I have put into this venture.

The only thing that can be done at this point is to wait and see what happens with ATARI, and hope that they find themselves in a position and mindset to allow my efforts to continue on this matter at a future date.

Tears and Sadness,
Jace Hall

Hi Jason Hall,

This is obviously very disappointing for all of us, but we know you did everything you could given the circumstances.

Thank you for championing this righteous cause and for keeping us informed. It's been a long time since the Blood community got any recognition whatsoever and I think that, despite this bad news, many will rest a little easier knowing that while it may not be today, the day will come where we'll get our chance and that we'll have you in our corner.

Until that day comes, we'll be here, waiting patiently as we ever have.

Stay fresh and thank you from the bottom of my life essence!
