Some Cryptic Passage stuff

Once again I was scouring the depths of the internet, and while most of this stuff is not new to anyone, I thought I'd put them all in a single thread for easy access.

Another fun thing to note is the original level names.

Levels include: Creepy Boat Docks, Old Opera House, Gothic Library, Lost Monastery, Steamboat, Graveyard, Abysmal Mine Shaft, Mountain Pass, Ancient Castle and Boggy Creek!

Compared to the final Boat Docks, Abysmal Mine and Castle.

Don't forget ERIE BOAT DOCKS from the boxart! :D Also, the word "abysmal" is not the right word to use to describe a level.

It's "staged" and is not from any level. The structure is of course taken from Cryptic's final map. I suppose it was just something fun they threw together during development, or perhaps a screenshot they'd intended to use for their cinematics and later scrapped. I think it may appear on the actual box itself. I'd have to check again.

Fun thread. Thanks J!

It's also the only one of these screenshots that made it into the official final box art, it's on the back cover.

This is my first time seeing the old cover; I didn't even know there was one.

Thank you massa Daedolon for sharing this neat picture, and I sure am glad you didn't destroy it's precious quality for 56k's sake, as it is often the norm for other message boards.

Amongst CDMag's E3 1997 coverage, MrFlibbly found an older version of the cover artwork with an alternate, wip title for the expansion. A fairly interesting development! :D
