Bloody Pulp Fiction mod

Post by methy » Nov 9th, 2012, 18:24

I wanted to play Bloody Pulp Fiction but it comes with a weird installer. When I try to launch the mod, my controls are back to default, even though my blood.cfg has my controls right (if I launch Blood without the mod my controls are working).

The mod comes with its own .cfg, bf.cfg, which I guess is probably why. However, when I open the file to try and manually edit it, there is nothing related to controls.

Anybody has an idea how I could make this mod work with controls other than default?

thanks

also when trying to launch the mod with the blood.cfg instead of bf.cfg, it just doesn't work.

Nevermind, I got it to work using the "non installer" version available on the mod's site.

Wangho I think you should set up BPF without the installer, it's a real pain in the ass to install, honestly. I still haven't figured out how to get 1.3 running.

Can't you just pack the latest files in a 7z archive and upload that on moddb?

I played a few levels using the non-installer version available on your site but I kept getting sound glitches, like sounds that aren't meant playing constantly on repeat.

It gets very aggravating, I stopped playing when during an entire level I could hear Tchernobog calling me an "asshole" every second on loop.

I tried re-installing in a completely fresh folder but it's still the same problem. Seems like I'm never gonna play this episode for real.

An amusing memory I have from the installation was that I tried to follow the instructions, but had no luck. I tried to follow the 'backup instructions', but didn't make headway either. Eventually I began clicking and opening files at random. It worked.

To this day I'm not sure how to install it.

Well, hell. I was hoping to come here for help on how to get bloody pulp working. I tried the noinstaller version and the dosbox version, and neither work. With dosbox I get all the colors inverted and the game crashes within seconds of being at the menu. That's if I switch out Blood.exe for barf.exe in the config file.

If I just choose the RunBPF app I get the "not compatible with windows 7" message.

Oddly enough, tecman's Blood launcher works well - up to a point. In the mall level there were a few missing textures - then I got to ghost town and it looks like every other texture is missing.

For those who have my problem with the mod - download the mod files from the official website and then copy the art tile files directly into the PULP folder. Voila!

Unfortunately, all is not well in... er, me trying to play this mod. The mod crashed at the end of the desert town, when you get swamped by enemies after checking out the radio. I threw on invincibility and restarted the map and no crashes, but I'm unsure if I'm missing a trigger or something.

After the attack where do I go? I found a youtube video of someone finding an exit behind the phone booth, but i have to assume thats just the alternate exit. Is there some trigger or event not working properly, or am I missing something obvious?

Also, the only reason why I'm so adamant with getting this thing to work is because the first two levels impressed the holy hell out of me. :)

Yeah I think that the phone booth thing is the true end of the level. Kinda odd because it feels like a secret place.

The first 2 levels were boring as fuck.

I kept going because I was hoping it'd get better.

This isn't even worth the trouble of the installing mess.

You'll make Wangho cry with that talk.

To be honest I'd play it if there was an easy way to install it without glitches and while being able to play with controls other than default ones

Funny thing is I have no clue how to get it working on individual machines except my own. NoOne is the man that created the installers for the addon, I just made a bunch of boring, buggy maps.

Yeah, the Desert map is tricky shit and the ending isn't obvious enough. After pressing the radio, you just head back to the phone booth and ride the elevator down to the next level.

Long time, wangho. Well, i can try do some fixes but im not sure how to get it work on all machines too.
Please answer all who tried BPF 1.3 (you can get it here http://cruo.bloodgame.ru/index.php?rid= ... ion=addons)

All version i made (include 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3) works fine on my, RF and wangho computers. Some crashes not installer problems but engine, mapping and sound overloads. Some of crashes fixed in 1.3 version.

Okay, lets try LOW TECH 1.3 build:

1. Download here: http://rghost.ru/41629777
2. Extract and replace all original Blood files (replaces some ART and DAT files).
3. This version should be compatible with my weapons mod, so you can get weapon mod 1.1 here: http://cruo.bloodgame.ru/index.php?rid= ... on=weapons

PS: Also you can view ART by Hellen in Hellen_ART dir when you extract.
