Tell something odd about yourself

Post by Drakan » Aug 13th, 2009, 09:10

OK, Umnir's thread just inspired me. We need more wacky topics. So tell something strange about yourself that either happened for a while or still does.

Me? It doesn't seem to happen anymore, but for the longest time if I had to get out of bed to pee, I'd have a dream about it. yes, that's right, if I had to piss in the morning, I'd dream about it beforehand. My dream would be something like peeing in a kitchen sink or in the toilet of a bar or pub in a big ludicrous fountain.

Yet, oddly enough, it doesn't happen anymore. And I never woke up in a "wet patch" either.

So.. you?

Dammit, Drakan, you had me in self reflection for about fifteen minutes there. :)

I do a host of things that I suppose could be found strange, but I have difficulty telling the difference between strangeness and normality these days.

To open with, in Blood, I simply must destroy every single gib object present in a map. I've no clue as to the wisdom behind this and the guts that come out of slain opponents don't seem to count in this regard. Secondly, and I think our resident Nate shares this one, upon 'exploring' in Wrong Side of the Tracks, I always check that little nook to the left of the Miskatonic entrance. I'm not talking about the one with the statue, but rather on the exterior, with the brick surface. I know there's nothing more to be found there and there never can be more than just an empty corner, but I move in that direction anyway.

Personality nuances, habitual expressions, I really can't think of anything genuinely unusual to relate about myself. Bah, sorry. After thinking on this for over half an hour I've still got nothing. Perhaps someone else's post will bring about a revelation.

I usually go back to the left of the Miskatonic also, just to look at Craig's choice of shade for the back corner. It's a little odd, but by golly, it works.

In Shipwrecked, I always jump up on the burning post by the key-locked door. Then, I'll just kind of stand around and soak in the atmosphere knowing that I'm all alone in the frigid arctic and imagining other sections of the map which do not exist, but exist in the mind.

Sometimes I climb into Matt's glass and have him drink me.
I have a suspicion that he eats Chaos Emeralds so I can't evolve.

EDIT

Cows are my favourite animals. I like Ovaltine. I used to part my hair in the middle. I whack my head on the pillow over and over when I'm trying to sleep. I've done it since I was a baby, and it doesn't hurt or make me dizzy or anything. It just gets out energy. If I listen to music though, and it's really powerful, I'll end up banging my head really hard and it's crazy.

Every meal which I eat at least semi-regularly I will always eat in the same way and in the same sequence.

I'm afraid of round objects. Some things are just so perfectly circular or spherical that they have no beginning and no end.

This thread is starting to become win. :D

I have a tenancy to count. I love doing it. I'll just start from a random number and go from there in ones, twos and so forth. Given my diagnosis it's natural.

Also, Dime, it sounds perfectly acceptable to be afraid of them. But how do you cope if you watch a sport with a round ball, if I may ask?

Yes, I considered this type of thing, but surely every person on the planet is habitual. Far from strange!

When I was kid, if I spinned 180 or 360 degrees and noticed it, I had to go back that same degrees or more rounds in order to restore the balance. :D
I tought that if I don't do it, earth and all things get messed up or something.

Not a problem, really. It is just the perfectly round objects. Like a CD or one of those white-matted glass spheres on some lamps. I almost get panicky if I observe one up close or if I try to feel it with my hand. I had one of those in my hands and I was compelled to turn it upside down to be able to see that "hole" that you mount around the light bulb, because the rest of it is just so perfectly round and smooth that it scares me.

I avoid stepping between tiles. I wash my hands after doing just about anything. I wash my face 15-20 times a day.
If I touch a dog or a cat, or shake hands with someone who touched a dog, or eaten or anything, I feel dirty. I NEED to wash my hands.
Long live the new flesh!

It’s story time kids!

In my early youth I had a wild preference to use the garden as my pissing bowl.

If I undergo sleep deprivation for a consecutive number of nights (commonly till 2AM) my dreams tend to be very vivid, to the point where I can recall visuals, sounds and even the primary setting. Why I can even remember my voyages into the Dream world from the past 4 or 5 nights.

Thursday Night: Direct control of my body in a first person view, what occurred was an assault on an underground Nazi bunker, storming into a central arena I was met with a very spacious yet empty room, the only sign of furniture was an enormous spherical orb in the centre. At present were 4 Nazi Commanders each distinguished by a unique ability, I came across one who specialised in unarmed combat and splattered me in the blink of an eye with a super charged fist to the face. Déjà vu immediately descended onto the plain as I was warped back to the beginning of the battle, where I went charging into the centre with my right fist raised but this time pummelled the crap out of a common Nazi guard. After thoroughly cleaning out the remnant scum the mastermind remained revealed the Orb’s true nature, which was in fact an explosive bomb! Without second thought I decided to perish with my comrades instead of attempting to escape my inevitably fiery fate.

To cut it short what followed was not a depiction of heaven, but instead being suspended on a cloud in the heart of the very same bunker but having the ability to return to the surface. I was then immediately flung into a generic Star Wars lightsaber battle, which took place not on a space freighter, but in a medieval forest over a clear blue sky. After seeing the death of my comrade I made a hasty retreat via an invisible jetpack and attempted to seek the help of a group of mercenaries who had successfully merged themselves into a poverty stricken but flourishing society of an African village.

Friday Night: Think Advance Wars II except battles took place in a gladiatorial arena with rows upon rows of applauding spectators, as if the whole thing was nothing more than a meaningless competition. As a commander I had a choice from the four teams on offer, after selecting ‘Orange’ (assumedly Orange Star then) I successfully displayed my prowess in my first battle, which gained me their honour immediately. However I wasn’t so lucky in subsequent skirmishes and again I found my dream reversed back to the start where I choose the aqua coloured team (Green Earth then). Yet this time halfway through my skirmishes a behind the scenes conspiracy was taking place, seems an elusive operative wanted to frame me as a murderer through photographic evidence. At one point I found myself flying over the stadium spotting a set of documents which just so happened to be placed adjacent to a shredder. Dispatching the threat with ease my dream ended thus.

Sunday Night: Fucked up depiction of inter dimensional travel, a swirling vortex composed of a mass of colours somehow related to one goon’s drug abuse habit. This one was more vulgar and quite vague.

As far as sleep is concerned, once again in my early youth I was tormented by frequent sleep paralysis in which I could observe my surroundings but could not react. On one occasion I conjured a devilish figure yet it had not no will to harm me. My dreams also involved a repeated cycle of intense fear, in which I was locked inside a game and couldn’t escape or explored the sunken depths of a dark labyrinth only to be stabbed by a spear or other sharp instrument.

When young i used to get myself off to sleep by designing weapons in my mind.

I also have an on and off habit of bringing my attention back to what i'm doing (and not off in a daydream) by saying one particular word, for ages this word used to be 'Chaingun' but now it's sometimes 'Shotgun' or 'ShatterGun'

I also get comfort from lying about completely inconsequential things, and tend to get quite short tempered if i don't play a PC Game at least once a day.
